Seven new suppliers sign on for Bombardier Global 7000 and Global 8000 jet program
Monday, 10 October 2011

Bombardier Aerospace today revealed more information about the selection of seven suppliers on major packages on its new Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets. The awarding of these contracts to renowned aerospace companies, who will design and manufacture key systems, is an important milestone in the program development.

Rockwell Collins has been selected for the avionics system and primary flight control computer; Parker Aerospace, the hydraulics system and fly-by-wire flight control technology; Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, the main and nose landing gear system; Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems (MABS), the wheels and braking system; Liebherr-Aerospace, the air management system; Apparatebau Gauting GmbH, the water and waste system; and Arrowhead Products, the ducting system.

"When developing new aircraft, Bombardier aims to bring together the industry's top talent to design and manufacture jets that feature advanced technology with the flexibility to incorporate future innovation. We are delighted to welcome this group of high-quality suppliers to join us in developing what will be the industry's most exciting new business jets since the original Global Express aircraft," said Steve Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Business Aircraft. "The new Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets have experienced tremendous market response, and we are very pleased that the program is moving forward rapidly and on schedule."

"The Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft are stellar examples of the best our industry has to offer in every sense," said Janice Davis, Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, Bombardier Aerospace. "We will work closely with this group of leading global suppliers that are aligned with our vision and share the same passion for performance and flawless execution. Together we will ensure the future success of this great platform."

Previously announced suppliers to the program include: Aerolia, for the centre fuselage; General Electric Aviation, for the integrated propulsion system; Hamilton Sundstrand, for the electrical system, auxiliary power unit and wing high-lift system; Intertechnique, for the fuel, fuel inerting and oxygen systems; and Triumph Aerostructures for the wing.

Global 7000 aircraft: Featuring a spacious four-zone cabin, this aircraft sets the benchmark for a new category of large business jets. With a volume of 2,637 cu. ft. (74.67 cu. m.), passengers will enjoy 20 per cent more living space than the cabin of the Global 6000 aircraft, the current industry leader. The aircraft will have a high-speed cruise of M 0.90* and a range of 7,300 nm (13,520 km) at M 0.85*. It will fly Sydney-Dubai, London-Singapore or Beijing-Washington nonstop with 10 passengers*. Entry-into-service is scheduled for 2016.

Global 8000 aircraft: Flying farther than any other business jet*, the Global 8000 aircraft will feature a superior three-zone, 2,236-cu.ft. (63.32-cu.m.) cabin and an impressive range of 7,900 nm (14,631 km) at M 0.85*. It will connect Sydney-Los Angeles, Hong Kong-New York and Mumbai-New York non-stop with eight passengers*. The Global 8000 jet will reach a high-speed cruise of M 0.90*. Entry-into-service is scheduled for 2017.
