Premium AEROTEC enters new technological dimensions with the A350 XWB
Monday, 10 September 2012

Premium AEROTEC is ready for the next generation of aircraft: following the successful first deliveries in all its work packages, the company is now fully concentrating on its production ramp-up.

The A350 XWB will set new standards in terms of comfort, commercial efficiency and environmental soundness. This is made possible to a large extent by state-of- the-art technology, materials and manufacturing processes in the area of the aircraft fuselage, more than 50 percent of which is made of carbon fibre composite (CFC) materials. Europe's largest aerostructures supplier, Premium AEROTEC is also one of Airbus' largest partners in the development, manufacture and assembly of structural components for the A350 XWB.

"With the A350 XWB, we are entering new dimensions of development and production. This is why we are now fully devoted to making a success of the ramp-up to series production. We want to make the most of the opportunity to showcase this technologically sophisticated programme as our company's 'business card for the future'," said Premium AEROTEC's CEO Kai Horten.

Except from the rear fuselage, each A350 XWB fuselage section is made up of four individual shells, a construction that enables the weight to be optimised by designing each of the outer skins to withstand exactly the loads and forces acting on the fuselage structure at the point in question. With a length of up to 14 metres, the fuselage shells are the largest CFC components that Premium AEROTEC has so far developed and manufactured.

Premium AEROTEC is one of the largest suppliers of aerostructures for the A350 XWB. The company develops, manufactures and assembles the entire forward fuselage section (section 13/14) and the CFC side shells, the CFC pressure bulkhead and the floor structure of the aft fuselage section (16/18), and produces the attachments for the main landing gear and other structural components for the fuselage and wings.
