GM Nameplate, a leading manufacturing solutions provider, announced today the expansion of their touch screen capabilities with the introduction of the multi-zone 5-wire touch screen.
Developed in conjunction with TouchKO of Cedar Park, Texas, GM Nameplate and TouchKO are the only manufacturers offering this technology. 5-wire multi-zoned touch screens are appropriate for complex operations involving multiple controls that must be regulated, such as industrial, medical, aeronautical or entertainment applications.
"This technology opens up exciting design and control options for our touch screen customers," stated Dennis Webster, Intaq Engineering Manager, GM Nameplate. "Touch screen users can now operate multiple controls simultaneously from a single touch screen."
A standard touch screen accepts one input at a time and attempts to touch several screen areas at once cancels out each touch by calculating an average to determine a single input location. The multi-zone 5-wire touch screen by GM Nameplate allows for up to four input zones on a single touch screen, and all four touches may occur simultaneously leading to four distinct inputs.
The multi-zone 5-wire touch screen comes bundled with a multi-zone industrial controller. This controller accepts multiple top ITO sheet inputs, enabling the multiple zoned areas of the touch screen to function. It also provides the option for the multi-zone 5-wire touch screen to function as a single-zone touch screen.
