Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion integrated avionics have been selected for Bombardier's all-new Learjet aircraft – the all-composite Learjet 85 jet. Pro Line Fusion is also key component in Bombardier's Global Vision Flight Deck.
This selection marks Bombardier's second selection of Pro Line Fusion. In October 2007, it was announced that Pro Line Fusion would make its official debut on Bombardier's Global family of aircraft.
"We are honored to have been selected to apply Pro Line Fusion to Bombardier's all-new Learjet 85 aircraft and view this as a continuation of a long relationship built on trust," said Denny Helgeson, vice president and general manager of Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. "Pro Line Fusion for the Learjet 85 jet delivers key technological advancements, such as Synthetic-Enhanced Vision using the largest high-resolution displays available, a progressive human-machine interface, and a broad array of new communications, navigation and surveillance capabilities. Additionally, Pro Line Fusion incorporates information management technologies that ease many maintenance and flight operational tasks, improving efficiency.
"All these elements will make it easier for Learjet 85 aircraft pilots to do their job, while providing a smoother ride for passengers and delivering improved efficiency to flight operations," said Helgeson.
"The Learjet 85 flight deck derived from the Global Vision flight deck is another great example of how Bombardier invests in the latest technology and applies it to multiple product platforms," said David Coleal, vice president and general manager, Learjet.
Standard features on the Learjet 85 aircraft's flight deck include: three high resolution 15-inch diagonal LCD displays; Synthetic-Enhanced Vision; Advanced human machine interface including graphical flight planning capability; Integrated Flight Information Systems (IFIS) with electronic charts; dual Advanced Flight Management Systems; electronic checklists linked to the Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) and integrated circuit breaker control.
In addition to features available at entry into service, Bombardier and Rockwell Collins have jointly planned a series of technology updates as the Air Traffic Control infrastructure evolves. These include advanced display and guidance features based on emerging CNS/ATM technologies.
