VT Miltope and TriaGnoSys to provide next generation end-to-end cabin network solutions
Wednesday, 17 September 2008

VT Miltope and TriaGnoSys have today announced the formation of a strategic partnership to provide end-to-end systems for in-cabin networks. The two companies will work together to develop network backbones for aircraft, over which a range of services can be offered to passengers and crew.

The solution will enable a range of services, based on the creation of a cabin network. Applications include broadband Internet access for both crew and passengers, voice services, the transmission of non-flight critical crew information – such as electronic flight bags, weather reports and cabin inventory reports – and management of the inflight entertainment system.

Robert Guidetti, Vice President of VT Miltope, said, "VT Miltope and TriaGnoSys working together makes total sense. We have a complete portfolio of aircraft network products, designed to be remotely managed, scalable, interchangeable and upgradeable.TriaGnoSys has the most efficient satellite communications software available, and can provide in-cabin communications control and the relevant access technology."

VT Miltope and TriaGnoSys have been in discussion with a mobile phone provider, as well as both airlines and airframe manufacturers. Early customers are likely to be airlines providing Internet connectivity to their passengers, with VT Miltope as the solution provider.

Dr Axel Jahn, Managing Director of TriaGnoSys, said, "The key to this partnership is that we are providing totally flexible cabin network design. The wide range of potential applications gives airlines, and therefore their passengers, a large number of choices. We are offering the next generation of cabin networks."
