Airbus Helicopters and Avio Aero have signed an agreement for the supply of the transmissions of future advanced helicopters: Avio Aero will manufacture and test gearboxes for further installation on Airbus new generation twin-engine helicopters, including X4.
The 25-year contract is worth over 250 Million US dollars.
The agreement came after years of successful collaboration between the two companies: Avio Aero and Airbus Helicopters worked together on the innovative Main Power Transmission Gearboxes for the three-engine heavy transport Super Frelon helicopter, the twin-engine medium transport Puma helicopter and the medium-weight multipurpose twin-engine Dauphin helicopter.
“The agreement is a step forward in strengthening our market positioning in helicopter transmissions", said Riccardo Procacci, CEO Avio Aero. "The company has over 50 years of successful experience into transmissions technology which are one of our strategic product pillars for future's growth. Our leading-edge technology capabilities are key to our commitment in delivering product excellence and best services to our customers”.
