LAI wins manufacturing contract for jet engine combustor assemblies
Wednesday, 29 October 2008

LAI International, Inc., strategic supplier of precision components and sub-assemblies for original equipment manufacturers, has announced it has been awarded multi-year contracts for manufacturing combustor components in jet engines.

LAI will process more than 360 of the make-complete combustor assemblies for a first-tier aerospace engineering company under the agreement. The contracts are expected to be valued at more than $650,000 over two years.

"This win is a reflection of LAI's domain expertise and success in core machining disciplines for make-complete processing in the power generation industry," Darcy Dodge, Director of Strategic Products for LAI, said. "The components require precision machining of super alloys, which have a coated perimeter to allow for high performance in the hot-gas path environment."

The components, which maintain and control a burning mixture of fuel and air in the combustion chamber, are installed in jet engines for non-commercial jet aircraft.

Deliveries of the components are scheduled to begin in early 2009 and continue through 2010. The assemblies will be manufactured at LAI's facilities in Scarborough, Maine, with additional special processing to be done in Minneapolis.
