AnywhereMap and Forward.Vision.® announce collaboration
Friday, 7 November 2008

anyAnywhereMap and Forward Vision Systems, Inc. today announce their plans to collaborate on a project to integrate the Forward Vision's Enhanced Visibility System (EVS) with AnywhereMap electronic flight bag product.  The prototype system will be on display at AOPA Expo (Anywhere Map booth #122).

Forward Vision's EVS systems provide real time imaging to aid the pilot in reduced visibility situations day and night. The Forward. Vision.® EVS-100 powered by Max-Viz (Forward Vision booth # 1832) will greatly enhance the safety of pilots flying in smoke, dust, haze and at night. Clearly showing clouds and IMC after dark, this assists pilots from inadvertently entering IMC conditions at night and greatly enhances terrain avoidance. Night ground operations are significantly safer aiding the avoidance of ground personnel, vehicles, deer and other runway incursions.

"Pilots want and need the advanced capabilities of our electronic flight bag systems and they also want and need the enhanced vision capabilities made possible by Forward Vision.  This technological breakthrough allows us to display the output of the EVS live in a window of the Pilot's Electronic Flight bag computer system.  By eliminating an extra display, cockpit clutter is reduced.", said Anywhere Map CEO, Jay Humbard.

"This collaboration provides our customers with another great option for displaying their EVS images in light aircraft, and will allow us to further our mission to bring the safety of infrared imaging into more cockpits", said Patrick Farrell, President of Forward. Vision.

When the pilot wishes to see the EVS Image, a button is pressed on the EFB computer system and the live EVS video stream is displayed in a window on the computer screen.   The screen is effectively split between the live EVS image and the GPS generated moving map.   Anywhere Map plans to begin delivering EVS Integration upgrades within the next two months.
