Embraer E190-E2 wins certification from three authorities: FACC technology is also on board
Thursday, 1 March 2018

Yesterday, Embraer received approval from no less than three aviation authorities for the E190-E2. The first member of its new generation of the regional passenger aircraft family E-Jet E2 of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer impresses with new technologies and high efficiency.

An important contribution to this has been made by FACC: as Embraer's technology partner, FACC has developed and manufactured the spoilers, ailerons, wingtips and flap track fairings for the new jet family.

It is the first time in the history of aviation that a new aircraft with the level of complexity of the E2 has obtained a type certificate from three major worldwide certification authorities simultaneously. Yesterday, Embraer's E190-E2 was certified by the Brazilian ANAC, the US aviation authority FAA and the European Aviation Safety Agency EASA. This paves the way for the first delivery of an Embraer E190-E2 to a customer. "We congratulate Embraer on the important milestone in their newest aircraft program," said Robert Machtlinger, CEO of FACC. "The E-Jet family of aircraft is a key program for us and we are proud to support our customer Embraer on the road to airline service. On behalf of our employees, we are now looking forward to the entry into service of the E190-E2 and its successful use in flight operations over the next few decades."

FACC thus once again fulfils its strategic goal of being represented on every modern commercial aircraft as a specialist for lightweight components. For the E190-E2, FACC has developed the ailerons, spoilers, wingtips and flap track fairings from scratch and has accompanied them with its know-how right through to certification. "To us, this milestone is not only a confirmation of our high level of technical competence, but also proof of the good cooperation between the Embraer and FACC teams," said Robert Machtlinger. "With our extensive experience in the field of composite structures we have been able to make an important contribution to the development of the pioneering E-Jet series, which is characterized by unsurpassed operational efficiency and a low ecological footprint."

The program is of great importance to FACC as it further strengthens the company's role as an Embraer supplier. On the one hand, FACC has been commissioned to supply the components for the entire service life of the E-Jet E2 regional jet family. On the other hand, cooperation with Embraer has been successfully extended to the aerostructures segment.
