Esterline products selected for Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engine
Saturday, 16 June 2018

Esterline Corporation, a leading specialty manufacturer serving global aerospace and defense markets, announces that it has been awarded a contract to supply key advanced components for the new Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 Engine, which is being fitted to the Bombardier Global 5500 and 6500 business jets.

The range of Esterline Engineered Materials products to be supplied includes: Inconel 625 Exhaust Mixer; Nimonic 75 Exhaust Cone; Titanium Full Core Engine Fairings; Titanium Low Pressure Turbine Fairing; Titanium Turbine Case Cooling Manifold Assembly; Stainless Steel Intercase Fireshield

Esterline's products contribute to the advanced materials science behind this engine design, including lighter weight materials, an advanced cooling system, and insulation products able to withstand higher temperatures and pressures, which allow the engine to reach new levels of performance and efficiency.

Launched in May 2018, Rolls-Royce's Pearl 15 engine is the first member of the new engine family for the next generation of business jets. Incorporating the latest technologies, the Pearl 15 is the industry's most advanced business aviation engine, delivering greater power and efficiency. It combines advanced design with innovative technologies, enabling the Bombardier Global 5500 & 6500 aircraft to fly farther, faster, cleaner and quieter, at top speeds of Mach 0.90. Additionally, the Pearl 15 benefits from an advanced health monitoring system, harnessing digital capability to make intelligent decisions.

"Esterline is honoured to be part of the brand new Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 Engine program," stated Billy Meijer, Managing Director for Esterline's Darchem product line supplying engineered materials for the Pearl 15. "The work will be accomplished in our facility in Stillington, UK, where our more than 600 employees welcomed the news to be part of such an exciting program."

The Pearl 15 engine is expected to enter into service on the Bombardier Global 5500 and 6500 business jets in 2019.
