Avionics display specialist Barco has been selected by Thales to supply advanced Control Display and Management Systems for use in its new TopDeck avionics suite. The new flight deck will debut inside the next generation Sikorsky S-76D civil helicopter. The first TopDeck suite using Barco's CDMS will be delivered before the end of this year.
Under the contract, Barco will provide Thales with its latest CDMS-3000 unit, based on the widely successful CDMS line. The CDMS-3000 combines Barco's proven avionics quality with optimum versatility. The unit is compatible with the ARINC429 and/or MIL-STD-1553 interfaces and supports Ethernet, mass memory and USB memory front loading.
"After a competitive analysis, Barco's new CDMS-3000 proved to be the number one Control Display and Management System for integration in our latest Sikorsky S-76D TopDeck avionics suite", said Mark Knight, Sales and Marketing Director, Thales, Aerospace Division. The CDMS-3000 that will be incorporated into the glass cockpit of the Sikorsky S-76D is a 6.75 inch high Control Display Unit. It will operate as the data terminal for the entire TopDeck suite.
