Systems integrator and FAA certification provider EMTEQ has purchased airborne lighting systems specialist Flight Components, AG, of Bachenbülach, Switzerland, meaning that EMTEQ will now offer a complete array of exterior lighting products, including anti-collision, position and tail lights, to complement its existing interior LED lighting system solutions. The acquisition, which was finalized on March 1, allows EMTEQ to provide comprehensive nose-to-tail and wing-to-wing lighting solutions for both its fixed-wing and rotorcraft military and commercial customers, while increasing EMTEQ's presence in Europe. EMTEQ's worldwide network also includes global representatives in Brasil, England, China, Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Israel.
Jerry Jendusa, EMTEQ's President and CEO, noted, "This acquisition provides us with a product line of exterior lighting that complements our LED interior cabin lighting solutions, integration services and avionics related products. Our customers are looking for more value and turnkey capabilities, and Flight Components' exterior LED lighting is second to none." Flight Components utilizes the latest in LED technology and integrated optics for small package sizes, lightweight and efficient product offerings. Flight Components founder Paul Brenner stated he is grateful for EMTEQ's strong interest. "These complementary products complete the lighting systems package for a more comprehensive offering. EMTEQ's support will continue to allow Flight Components, which is a well established and successful company, to prosper for years to come," he said.
The pending acquisition makes the North American market more accessible to Flight Components, while EMTEQ's interior LED lighting products are more readily available to the European market.
With almost four decades of exterior lighting expertise, Flight Components makes products that are designed to meet RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-810, to fulfill requirements for EASA ETSO and FAA TSO certification and OEM specifications while specializing in exterior lighting systems with state of the art technology, design and manufacturing capabilities.
The two companies have been engaged in amicable discussions for almost one year. Each company will retain their current names, locations and product and service offerings. Flight Components holds EASA certifications as a production and maintenance facility, as well as ISO 9001:2000 certification. EMTEQ is an FAA PMA-approved facility and is EN/JSIQ/AS9100:2004 certified.
