On June 10, the new Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jet equipped with twin SaM146 engines landed at Le Bourget airport near Paris.
SaM146 engines have already logged more than 1,500 hours in flight. The SSJ100 on display at the Paris Air Show flew from the production site at Komsomolsk-on- Amur in eastern Russia to Moscow, and then on to Paris.
In addition to its extensive ground and flight testing program, the SaM146 has demonstrated its ability to power the aircraft on long flights, comparable to those in revenue service. The engine's performance and maturity show that it is ready to start commercial operation.
"Our appearance at the Paris Air Show, the industry's premier showcase, marks a major milestone in the SaM146 program," said Jean Paul Ebanga, Chairman and CEO of PowerJet. "Not only does it show the new benchmark in regional jets to the global aerospace industry, it also demonstrates SaM146 engines' maturity as it prepares the SSJ100 entry into service in just a few short months."
During the extensive SaM146 ground and flight testing program, test engines accumulated more than 3,800 hours in operation. Eight SaM146 engines are now being used for certification testing.
