Airborne supplemental electrical power patent issued to Steward Davis International, Inc.
Tuesday, 20 March 2007

The United States Patent Office has issued a Patent which approves the development of supplemental electrical power (SEPS), at varying altitudes . "This system meets the power needs of military, defense, and the Command ,Control, Communications, Computer & Intelligence integrators and designers for clean electrical power requirements much sought after for aircraft that have high demand for clean electrical power that is independent from the primary platform operating systems of the plane," said S.W. Epstein, President , Steward Davis International, Inc. "The system is ideal for the new More Electric aircraft design because it provides basic power, pressurized air, and cooling needs of both commercial aircraft and military derivatives," said Epstein.

Airborne Mission Platforms (airplanes) with Sensor Arrays and large banks of onboard computers that operate in flight are dependant on electricity for reliable operation. Aircraft that depend on computers to receive and process data for reconnaissance and battlefield operations need uninterrupted supplemental electrical power (SPS) at whatever flight level (altitude) they are.

The Steward Davis International , Inc. (SDII) system achieves significant fuel efficiency, and overcomes traditional aircraft design limitations while providing increased electrical power for airborne or ground operations. This new technology patented power system is scalable from as little as 40 kVA to as much as 2 Megawatts or more.

Applications include airborne C4ISR equipment, weapons systems, computer systems, and ground operations such as emergency/disaster operations or large mobile tactical operations. The system can be applied to Network-centric Warfare and Electronic Warfare currently the focus on C4ISR by electronics and defense system providers; General Dynamics, Raytheon, Co. , Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing.
