On November 6, 2018, at the 12th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, China-Russia International Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. (CRAIC) and its parent company, China Commercial Aircraft Corporation and Russia United Airlines Manufacturing Group Corporation jointly opened the CR929 wide-body aircraft.

This is the first time that the CR929 long-range passenger aircraft 1:1 display prototype was exhibited at the international air show. It is also the first time that Sino-Russian International Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. participated in the Zhuhai Air Show with the implementation of the CR929 long-range wide-body aircraft project.

Shen Zhulin, deputy director of the High Technology Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, and the responsible person of the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China attended the unveiling event. Zhao Yuerang, deputy secretary and general manager of the party committee of China Commercial Aircraft Corporation, and Slysari, president of the United Airlines Manufacturing Group of Russia, delivered speeches respectively. Chairman of the State Council Major Aircraft Major Expert Advisory Committee, Zhang Yanzhong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of China Commercial Aircraft Corporation, Deputy General Manager Liu Linzong, Deputy General Manager Wu Guanghui, Party Committee Standing Committee, Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee Zhao Jiufang, Deputy General Manager Guo Bozhi, Cheng Fubo, Russia Medvedev, Kovali and Tarosenco, vice presidents of United Aviation Manufacturing Group, attended the event.

Srisari said that the CR929 project is currently under way and is currently in the preliminary design phase and the potential supplier and equipment selection phase, which will end before the end of 2019. The unveiling of the full-size CR929 display prototype is an important step forward in the development of the CR929 project, showing the world the comfort and various advantages of the CR929 long-range wide-body aircraft.

Zhao Yuerang said that the CR929 demonstration prototype integrates the product design experience of China Commercial Aircraft Corporation ARJ21 new regional aircraft and C919 large passenger aircraft, and incorporates the years of market experience and design ideas of the partner UAC, in terms of advancement, comfort and intelligence. There are a lot of highlights, customers and the public can experience this new generation of wide-body aircraft with integrated Chinese and Russian elements and distinctive features. I hope that the CR929 project will be successful and become a landmark project of strategic cooperation between China and Russia, writing a new chapter in the traditional friendship between China and Russia.

The demonstration prototype development is an important part of the development and development stage of the CR929 long-range wide-body aircraft. It mainly shows the aircraft image and the three-cabin layout, laying the foundation for market development and providing a platform for customer experience. The ratio of the prototype of the CR929 long-range wide-body aircraft to the real aircraft is 1:1, mainly showing the cockpit and cabin of the aircraft. The prototype is 22 meters long, 5.9 meters wide and 6.5 meters high, reflecting the CR929's first-class cockpit concept design, advanced avionics integration design, and a personalized cockpit layout. The prototype cabin is equipped with 2 rows of first class, 3 rows of business class, 4 rows of economy class, including advanced fashion entertainment system and characteristic interiors of Sino-Russian elements, integrating comfort and advancement.

The CR929 long-range wide-body aircraft is a major strategic cooperation project between the two countries in the high-tech field under the background of the comprehensive development of China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. On June 25, 2016, under the witness of the two heads of state, COMAC and Russia United Airlines Manufacturing Group Co., Ltd. signed a joint venture contract. On May 22, 2017, Sino-Russian International Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd., a joint venture between COMAC and Russian United Aviation Manufacturing Group, was established in Shanghai. Since the establishment of the joint venture company, the teamwork between China and Russia has become closer and more effective, and the project development work has been effectively promoted. On September 29, 2017, the Sino-Russian long-range passenger aircraft named CR929, the joint venture company LOGO released, marking the project development into a substantive stage. On May 30, 2018, the joint venture company completed the full recovery of the Propulsion System Program Request (RFP) as scheduled. On June 6, 2018, COMAC and Russia United Airlines Manufacturing Group jointly determined the main parameters such as the overall shape and size of the CR929 long-range wide-body aircraft. The two divisions officially signed the design documents. At present, the CR929 project has moved into the preliminary design stage, and related work has been fully carried out and steadily advanced.
