Honeywell Aerospace and AVIC Xi'an Flight Automatic Control Research Institute (AVIC FACRI) hosted an opening ceremony in Xi'an for the new facility of HonFei Flight Technology Co. Ltd. (HonFei), which is an approximately 10,000-square-meter facility. HonFei will develop advanced flight control technologies jointly with Honeywell and AVIC FACRI and will be a valuable resource for the growth of China's commercial aircraft industry.
HonFei, a joint venture between Honeywell and AVIC FACRI, develops and produces flight control systems for commercial aircraft, including for the landmark COMAC C919, one of the most important technological developments in China's commercial aviation history. With Honeywell's advanced technology in fly-by-wire flight control system and AVIC FACRI's solid technology base, HonFei will research, develop, manufacture, test and simulate advanced flight control technologies, hardware and software for various commercial aircraft. The state-of-the-art fly-by-wire flight control system developed by HonFei jointly with Honeywell and FACRI is fundamental to the performance of the C919 and enables HonFei to pursue new opportunities, including the planned CR929 aircraft program, in China's booming commercial aviation industry.
For decades, Honeywell has been focused on supporting China's commercial aviation development through partnerships with leading companies like AVIC FACRI. With its legacy of technology development, its comprehensive product portfolio and its long history of partnering with Chinese industry, Honeywell was selected by COMAC to provide flight control systems, wheels and brakes, auxiliary power units, and navigation systems for the C919. HonFei is an example of the success of China's strategy for enhancing capabilities in key industries using Sino-foreign joint ventures. HonFei is also a symbol of Honeywell and AVIC FACRI's faith in the future of the Chinese commercial aviation industry and its ability to compete domestically and globally.
