Mission 108 with optional hand operated rudder control system
Thursday, 19 November 2015

Lambert Aircraft Engineering is proud to announce a revolutionary hand operated rudder control system for the Mission M108. This will allow disabled pilots with limited or no strength in their legs to fly the Mission M108. The system will make its public debut at the FLYER Live show at Telford on 28-29 November, and will enter production in January 2016.

What really makes this design revolutionary is the intuitive user interface through the central control stick. A rudder & nosewheel deflection to the left is initiated by a natural stick displacement to the left; right rudder is by a moving the stick to the right. Pulling back on the stick actuates the wheel brakes. A motorcycle style twist grip on the stick serves as throttle control. This makes flying the Mission M108 with hand controls completely intuitive, unlike several previous generation aircraft that have been retrofitted with a fore-aft moving stick for rudder control.

The hand operated rudder control system can be installed in a standard nosewheel Mission M108. A full range of options may be fitted, so, disabled pilots who want to fly a state-of-the-art aircraft with glass cockpit, a Rotax 912iS, airframe parachute and much more, now have that option in the Mission M108. The high wing and large doors make access very easy and the baggage area is large enough to accommodate a folded wheelchair plus luggage.

The Mission M108 is approved in the UK by the Light Aircraft Association under 'Permit to Fly' regulations and the aircraft is sold in kit form. The aircraft may be assembled at the factory by the custmer through a (LAA approved) Build Assist Program in as little as 3 weeks, or at the customer's own workshop. Th aircraft comes with a full 2 year warranty if assembled at the factory. This environment is particularly suited to wheelchair users as the large production facility is completely flat. The builder has also access to all necessary tools and jigs. Full instruction is given. Under the current regulations, 'Permit to Fly' aircraft may even be used for training.
