EMTEQ wins production programs for LED lighting system installations
Monday, 18 June 2007

Aircraft system integrator EMTEQ has been awarded long-term purchases orders by Eurocopter for LED (light emitting diode) wash lighting provisions for installation on the EC225 Super Puma VIP configuration helicopter as well as by a major regional jet OEM. Both programs will last approximately three to five years with production rates estimated at 30-40 aircraft annually.

Said company president, Jerry Jendusa, "Part of our strategy in 2007 has been to focus on serving the helicopter industry, realizing that our products and services are as appropriate for this market as others. EMTEQ also appreciates the potential that exists in catering to the helo industry." EMTEQ lighting products have been installed on the Augusta AW139 and Sikorsky S92 and S76 helicopters as well.

The Wisconsin company has also been contracted to provide emergency pathway lighting, call button lighting, overhead panel lights, reading lights for the PSU (Passenger Safety Unit) and all cabin wash for a non-U.S-based regional jet OEM. Again Jendusa, "This program features several new LED products, versions of which were previously sold to very specific markets. This contract demonstrates EMTEQ's ability to adapt existing products for other markets and highlights our commitment to partnering with customers to develop new products based on their needs."

Two of the new products are EMTEQ's LED reading light ELR14 and ELW34 wash light. The ELR14 is designed to be a plug-in replacement for existing incandescent reading lights, drawing less current and generating significantly less heat than other systems. The ELW34 wash light replaces fluorescent tubes. Designed with state-of –the-art LEDs, the light is easy to install, eliminates the need for ballasts, thereby reducing aircraft weight. It is extremely durable and long-lasting at 40,000 hours of useful operating life. ELW34 requires the use of power supply ELP42 but only per every 150 feet of light. It's also the first known white wash light developed for commercial aircraft. Explains Jendusa, "ELR14 and ELW34 can improve fleet reliability and dispatch time because they are very low maintenance with excellent performance properties."
