The Tecnalia air taxi begins the industrialisation phase with the help of the company UMILES
Tuesday, 26 October 2021

The urban mobility of the future has its eyes set on the sky. And it is expected that, over the next decade, there will be vehicles flying in cities around the world, as an alternative to land transport, both for the transport of cargo and people. In fact, it is estimated that in 2035 the "air taxi" business will reach 32,000 million euros, according to a study by Porsche Consulting.

Already in 2019, Tecnalia presented the first air taxi developed in Spain, a prototype designed to transport a person or loads of up to 150 kilogrammes , in a flight range of 15 minutes and a range of around 15 kilometres.

Now, the Tecnalia air taxi is now beginning a new stage in the hands of UMILES, the largest unmanned aerial systems service provider in Spain. After transferring the patent, with the aim of maintaining a long-term relationship to continue developing the Urban Mobility sector, the air taxi began the industrialisation phase, under the name of UMILES New Concept by Tecnalia.

The flight height reaches between 100 and 300 metres, and can reach 800 , always ensuring safety standards and hand in hand with the evolution of current legislation. It is made up of an aerodynamic cockpit propelled by four drones placed in the upper and lower part of the cockpit that allow it to move. In short, it is a new aircraft concept, which could be scaled to more passengers depending on the integration demanded in each city and service.
