Piper Aircraft has formed a new business enterprise, the Piper Industrial Manufacturing Company (PIMCO). This new venture will leverage and capitalise on Piper’s recent production plant improvements and investments in machinery, tooling and technology.
PIMCO will offer a wide range of specialised manufacturing solutions like sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, hydro- and stretch-forming, and tube bending/cutting.
“The Piper brand has long been recognized as a leader in general aviation, with over 85 years of aircraft fabrication and manufacturing expertise,” says John Calcagno, President and CEO of Piper Aircraft. “Piper Industrial Manufacturing Company will enable us to build on this legacy by expanding our business footprint into new and adjacent markets to provide solutions in contract manufacturing, aerostructures and project services, leveraging our position today as one of the most vertically integrated original equipment manufacturers in aviation.”
PIMCO will report to Ron Gunnarson, Vice President Sales, Marketing and Customer Support. A new business development team has been formed to lead PIMCO on this new endeavor. This team is led by Kevan Chisholm, Business Development Manager, who has been rising within the production and tooling ranks at Piper Aircraft since 2010.
