Patrick Goudou, Executive Director of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), today presented the type certificate for the SaM146 engine to Jean-Paul Ebanga, Chairman and CEO of PowerJet. The ceremony in EASA headquaters in Cologne (Germany) was attended by Philippe Petitcolin, Chairman and CEO of Snecma and Ilya Fedorov, CEO of NPO Saturn, the two parent companies of PowerJet.
Earning SaM146 EASA certification is a major milestone and everybody who worked on this program is very proud of its contribution to this success.
Approval by Russian certification agency Avia Register is expected within a few weeks.
Snecma and NPO Saturn must now meet new and equally important challenges. These include the ramp-up in production of the SaM146 engine, and the service entry of the SaM146-powered Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jet
