Packet Digital opens new manufacturing facility in Fargo
Friday, 2 February 2024

Packet Digital, a leading provider of batteries and charging systems for autonomous systems, announced the opening of its second facility, a 25,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Fargo, N.D. The facility will enable Packet Digital to significantly increase production capacity to meet growing demands for its innovative products.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the FMWF Chamber of Commerce on Dec. 20, 2023, was attended by Packet Digital's CEO Terri Zimmerman, U.S. Sen. John Hoeven (via video), North Dakota Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller, and other dignitaries and guests. The ribbon cutting was performed by Zimmerman, Miller and others, followed by a tour of the new facility.

“We are thrilled to open our new facility and expand our presence in North Dakota,” Zimmerman said. “This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, the support of our customers and partners, and the vision of our state leaders.

“We are proud to be part of the vibrant and dynamic tech ecosystem in North Dakota, and we look forward to creating more jobs and opportunities for the local community."

Hoeven, who has been instrumental in securing projects with the U.S. Navy and Space Force that helped bring about the new facility, praised Packet Digital's achievements and contributions to the state and nation.

“Packet Digital is a great example of how North Dakota is leading the way in innovation and technology,” Hoeven said. “Their batteries and charging systems are enhancing the performance and efficiency of autonomous systems and advancing our national security and defense capabilities, bolstered by more than $25 million in contracts we’ve secured for Packet Digital’s work with the Department of Defense.”

The new facility will enable Packet Digital to streamline its supply chain under one roof and support projects such as manufacturing the next generation of batteries and chargers for the Navy. This work will be supported by state-of-the-art equipment, such as an SMT line and other automated technologies allowing for multiple types of battery welding and printed circuit boards all in-house.

Miller, who was on hand to celebrate the ribbon cutting and praise the innovation and commitment to North Dakota from Packet Digital, also expressed her support for the company.

“Packet Digital is a remarkable success story and a role model for other entrepreneurs and innovators in North Dakota,” Miller said. “They have demonstrated how to leverage the state's resources, talent, and infrastructure to create cutting-edge products and solutions that are in high demand globally. I applaud Packet Digital for their new facility and wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

Packet Digital's new facility is located at 704 38th St. N., Fargo, ND 58102. The facility will employ about 50 people and will produce power management chips and modules for drones, satellites, autonomous submarines and more. Packet Digital's headquarters is located in Fargo at 3241 University Ave.
