GE Aerospace Research joins the MIT Industrial Liaison Program
Wednesday, 5 February 2025

With an eye to revolutionizing travel in the skies and space, GE Aerospace Research, the central innovation hub for GE Aerospace, announced it has joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) coveted Industrial Liaison Program (MIT ILP). The agreement provides the company with a range of important benefits, including access to MIT's researchers, who are among the best in the world.

"GE Aerospace Research is excited to become a member in MIT's ILP, which will enable us to connect with an abundance of top researchers and start-ups," said Joseph Vinciquerra, Senior Director, GE Aerospace Research. "One major focus area will be AI, where we see a lot of synergy in areas like material discovery, better decision-making, and efforts to build more trust in AI."

Vinciquerra noted that GE Aerospace is making significant investments in AI to transform everything from engine design to how the company services its fleet of some 70,000 commercial and military jet engines operating around the world today. GE Aerospace has been developing and deploying new AI solutions for well over a decade, more than doubling its investment in new AI technologies during this time. Today, GE Aerospace is one of the top AI patent holders in the AI industry.

The ILP connects leading companies from across multiple industries with MIT's cutting-edge research, innovative technologies, and world class expertise. As a member, GE Aerospace scientists and engineers will have unparalleled access to meet with MIT's renowned faculty and researchers, attend exclusive conferences and workshops and gain insights into the latest advancements in the industry. In addition, this membership agreement provides access to the MIT Startup Exchange. Comprised of industry leaders emerging from the MIT ecosystem. GE Aerospace will look to forge new partnerships with MIT-connected startups to drive our key strategic initiatives forward.

"GE Aerospace Research is an innovation engine unlike any other in the aerospace industry, bringing unparalleled depth and breadth of technical capabilities driving the future of flight," Vinciquerra concluded. "In addition, we bring one of the most expansive innovation networks from industry, academic, and government partners inside and outside the aerospace sector. This new membership agreement with MIT ILP will allow us to expand that network even more going forward. I can't wait to see what we do together in the months and years ahead."
