Antonov Company has completed jig assembly of the AN-178 airframe intended for delivery under the contract between Spetstechnoexport Company and Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Peru.
On August 21, the aircraft was presented to the Ukrainian media by Oleksandr Los, president of Antonov Company. He reported the results achieved on the AN-178 construction and expressed thanks to Antonov's team for such high-skilled and selfless works. He accompanied participants of the press conference in the assembly shop.
The aircraft is due to be delivered in 2021 and all the works are being performed according to the approved schedule. Antonov Company says it has the production capability and skilled employees to perform these works within the specified time, subject to the fulfilment of obligations by the contractors for payment.
Antonov Company has completed design works on the replacement of Russian-made vendor items by Ukrainian and Western analogues and issued design documentation at its own expense.
To date, five serial An-178s have been prepared and put into production. Aircraft operators from Turkey, Asia and Latin America have expressed interest in using such aircraft. In the Ukraine, the aircraft will perform the tasks of units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Negotiations are under way to supply the aircraft for the needs of the Ministry of Defense.
This significant stage of construction of the AN-178 series was completed on the eve of the 29th Independence Day of Ukraine.
Antonov Company has previously created a whole range of new aircraft including: light multipurpose AN-38, regional passenger turboprop AN-140, military STOL transport AN-70, regional passenger jets AN-148, AN-158, aircraft demonstrator AN-132D. New versions of AN-74 and AN-32 aircraft were constructed. The AN-225 was upgraded and entered into commercial operations.
