Saft's ultra low maintenance batteries have been selected by Embraer as original equipment for the Praetor 500 and 600 fleets. The contract also covers the batteries as aftermarket equipment for Praetor 500, Praetor 600, Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 aircraft models.
Saft has developed the 443CH1 ultra low maintenance (ULM) battery specifically for Embraer. It delivers 24 V and 44 Ah capacity, providing power for auxiliary power unit starting, back up and emergency power for avionics and flight controls. The battery also supports electrical system loads as needed.
The batteries offer a combination of high performance, low weight, long service life and ultra-low maintenance requirements that enable significant reductions in the total cost of ownership for commercial aircraft. The ULM design also benefits from replaceable spare parts as well as the capability to be stored for long periods, up to 10 years, with no deterioration in performance.
“This new contract for Embraer significantly increases Saft's footprint in business aviation with the Legacy 450/500 and Praetor 500/600 platforms now added to our portfolio, which already included multiple Embraer platforms,” says Chuck Schofield, general manager for aviation. “This is a new milestone and a major achievement for Saft that strengthens our relations with Embraer.”
