Manta Aircraft has presented a full-scale mock-up of its Ann Plus aircraft at the China Airshow in Zhuhai, claiming a significant milestone for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).
The innovative hybrid-electric aircraft is planned for regional and inter-regional operations, offering versatility and efficiency in both urban and remote locations.
The Ann 6 is a six-seat multipurpose aircraft, accommodating a single pilot and five passengers. It is capable of Vertical and Short Takeoff and Landing, offering operational flexibility in areas with limited infrastructure. With a VTOL range of 300 km and an extended STOL range of over 1,000 km, the Ann 6 can operate from airports, helipads, or unprepared fields, making it ideal for diverse missions such as business travel, medical transport and cargo services.
Incorporating an advanced hybrid propulsion system, the Ann 6 utilises eight ducted fans, four of which are tiltable to optimise vertical lift. This system combines electric power with fuel efficiency, providing high-speed cruising and extended operational range. Batteries also recharge during flight, ensuring minimal downtime.
The aircraft’s design incorporates extensive aerodynamic testing, including wind tunnel and computational fluid dynamics simulations, ensuring reliability of control in various flight conditions. Manta Aircraft’s experienced team has drawn on over 60 years of collective expertise to deliver a highly reliable and efficient air vehicle.
At the show, attendees were able to experience the aircraft’s interior, which blends luxury and functionality. The cabin features high-quality materials like nappa leather and carbon fibre, with bespoke customisation options for seating, lighting, and storage. Safety is prioritised, with advanced systems and ergonomic controls designed for both business and personal travel.
With its hybrid-electric propulsion, flexible mission capabilities and low infrastructure requirements, the Ann 6 is positioned to play a significant role in the future of AAM, providing fast, efficient, and eco-friendly solutions for a wide range of applications.
