Cobham has been selected by Embraer Defense and Security to design and supply the aerial refuelling probe for the KC-390 Tactical Military Transport and Tanker Aircraft. This selection follows Embraer's recently announced contract award to Cobham for the development and supply of the KC-390 wing-mounted aerial refuelling pods.
Cobham's contract with Embraer for the aerial refuelling probe will cover design and supply activities in support of the KC 390 development programme, as well options for the supply of the equipment to the production aircraft. Cobham's robust yet light weight fixed probe solution ideally matches the high fuel rate delivery demands of the KC-390.
Commenting on the announcement, Cobham Mission Equipment's Vice President Iain Gibson said, "We are delighted to have been selected, and we are confident that Embraer, the Brazilian Air Force, the KC-390 program and future export customers of the aircraft will benefit from Cobham's extensive expertise at meeting aerial refuelling operational needs. Cobham is strongly committed to the KC-390 programme, and we are looking forward to participating with Embraer in its future success".
