Meggitt, a leading international company specialising in high performance components and sub-systems for aerospace, defence and energy, is pleased to announce that Bombardier has selected Meggitt's integrated fire protection system for the Global 7000 and Global 8000 business jets. The award encompasses the entire ATA Chapter 26 fire protection system, which includes fire and smoke detection, overheat protection, fire suppression and system control.
Bombardier announced the addition of the Global 7000 and Global 8000 jet to its existing Global 5000 and Global 6000 aircraft family at the 2010 National Business Aviation Association show. The 7000 features a four-zone cabin and will provide a range of 7,300 nm with ten passengers at Mach 0.85. The 8000 will achieve a range of 7,900 nm at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers. Both aircraft will be able to cruise at high speeds of Mach 0.90.
