Lufthansa Technik's Innovation Business Unit has been selected by Bombardier Aerospace to supply cabin management and in-flight-entertainment (CMS/IFE) systems on its new Challenger 350 aircraft program.
This latest announcement comes after Bombardier's selection of the nice® HD system on the Learjet 70, Learjet 75 and the Learjet 85 aircraft programs. So far, Lufthansa Technik has delivered more than 300 shipsets of the first generation nice® and its successor, nice® HD, to Bombardier Aerospace.
Thanks to its open IP architecture, nice® HD is highly configurable and flexible, allowing Lufthansa Technik to offer a wide number of cabin equipment packages - from lighting and environmental control to the integration of third-party solutions such as satellite communications and TV, portable audio / video devices or cameras.
The nice® HD system is based on a wired and wireless high-bandwidth Ethernet network. The Challenger 350 aircraft's system will enable the industry's first turn-key Audio Video on Demand (AVoD) solution, which encompasses several brand new applications and functions, such as the embedded and wireless networked distribution which is compatible with all leading mobile devices (Apple, Android, Windows 8). Each person in the aircraft can watch their individually chosen movie at their own speed.
The Innovation Business Unit is demonstrating the nice® HD system at the Lufthansa Technik booth 1031, hall 6, at the 2013 EBACE, including wireless media distribution to personal devices.
