International Lease Finance Corporation, the premier aircraft lessor to the world, has chosen AD Aerospace to supply its FlightVu Flight Deck Entry Video Surveillance Systems (FDEVSS) for forward fit on 3 B737-700 aircraft it has on order from Boeing. ILFC will be able to supply its customer airlines with enhanced cockpit door security with cameras watching the area outside the flight deck door, linked to the flight crew's Multi Function Displays (MFDs).
The FDEVSS system, which has Boeing technical offerability, provides 3 cameras positioned to cover the approach to the flight deck door and the forward galley areas. This enables the flight crew to confirm who is outside the secured flight deck door when entry is requested and to ensure that they are not acting under duress or that any potential threat is nearby.
The crew selects the images on their MFDs from their normal seated positions. Once they are certain they recognize the person requesting entry and that the situation is safe, they can allow entry to the flight deck. The system is specifically designed not to interfere with any flight critical data displayed on the MFD's.
"We at AD Aerospace are extremely pleased to be a supplier to ILFC, such a prestigious name in aircraft leasing." said Mike Horne, Managing Director, AD Aerospace. "This system demonstrates that integrating Security Video with existing flight deck Multi Function Displays make great sense, and I am certain it is an option that will be taken up by many airlines."
FlightVu cockpit door monitoring systems have been or are being installed on aircraft for, Air Seychelles, bmi, Britannia, BWIA, Corsair, easyJet, Hainan, Germania, Hapag Lloyd, Britannia Nordic and MyTravel amongst others.
