Embraer has selected Honeywell to be the supplier of the Audio/Video and Cabin Management System (AVCMS) for the Company's midlight Legacy 450 and midsize Legacy 500 executive jets. Honeywell's Ovation®SelectTM Cabin Connection Suite provides a vivid high-definition audio/video experience and a fully digital cabin management solution with intuitive controls and state-of-the-art features.
"Embraer's Executive Jets focus is on the best in passenger comfort and productivity. Honeywell's proven experience and products serve our purpose very well," said MaurĂcio Almeida Filho, Embraer Vice-President, Programs – Executive Jets. "With the Ovation®SelectTM intuitive passenger interface technology, we will be able to deliver a better overall in-flight experience."
The AVCMS selection was based on Honeywell's top-flight product, using the latest digital technology. Its robust and reliable architecture is simple, and easy to install and to support, arising from many years of aircraft cabin entertainment experience.
"Honeywell's modular, lightweight and flexible system delivers high-quality, crisp surround sound audio, vivid high-definition video and digital communication distribution throughout the cabin, satisfying the growing bandwidth demands of tomorrow's high-tech communication devices," said Rob Wilson, President, Honeywell Business and General Aviation. "Embraer will be the first to offer Honeywell's all-digital, high-definition cabin management system that will make the passenger in-flight experience seamless and easy."
The individual touch screen control panels provide passengers with controls for such AVCMS components as Blu-ray, LCD Monitor, 3-D moving map system, lighting, temperature, cabin speakers, and window shades, among others, including a media dock for iPod use, or any carry-on A/V equipment. A full high-definition video system provides state-of-the-art video quality. The Hi-Fidelity sound system provides crystal-clear surround sound throughout the cabin. Its highly scalable system architecture can quickly be upgraded to adapt to new consumer electronics.
This AVCMS is the fifth Honeywell system selected to equip the new Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 executive jets by Embraer. It joins the HTF7500E propulsion system, the 36-150 Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), and the environmental control and cabin pressurization systems, solidifying the relationship between the two companies.
The Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 are clean-sheet design aircraft, the first in their categories to offer a 6-foot (1.82-meter) stand-up cabin with a flat floor. Full fly-by-wire technology will enhance travel comfort and reduce pilot workload. The Legacy 500 is expected to enter service in the second half of 2012, and the Legacy 450 in the second half of 2013. The launch price for the Legacy 450 is US$ 15.25 million and that of the Legacy 500, US$ 18.4 million, based on January 2008 economic conditions.
