Today, Terma announced that it has been selected by The Boeing Company to provide the Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) integration for the CH-147 Chinook Medium to Heavy Lift Helicopter program for the Canadian Forces. Terma's AN/ALQ-213(V) Electronic Warfare Management System (EWMS) will integrate the warning systems Radar, Infra Red (IR) as well as Laser guided missiles.
Combined threat awareness displays and coordinated countermeasure control provided by the AN/ALQ-213 suite controller offer operator and aircraft enhanced situational awareness and improved survivability. The development and subsystem integration work will be lead by Terma's U.S.-based Airborne Systems team in Warner Robins, Georgia and supported by Terma in Denmark.
Because of the adaptive nature of the AN/ALQ-213(V) EWMS and its ability to easily accommodate new sensors and special mission payloads, Boeing is considering similar suite designs centred around the AN/ALQ-213(V) for other international customers whose requirements extend beyond Boeing's baseline CH-47F offering.
The ASE source selection notification supports a Memorandum of Agreement between Terma and Boeing announced in March 2009 outlining key areas of collaboration for the two companies. Additionally, Terma was recently contracted by Boeing to participate in a trade study to evaluate the feasibility of integrating Terma's 3-Dimensional Audio and Active Noise Reduction technology on Boeing's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. The Super Hornet strike fighter is one of three finalists in Denmark's New Combat Aircraft competition.
Terma's AN/ALQ-213 family and related survivability products are installed and are operational on over 1,000 U.S. A-10 and F-16 aircraft and more than 700 international F-16s, C-130s, AH-64s, F-111s and CH-47s. Terma has been a leading provider of electronic warfare and flexible integration solutions for over 25 years.
