Safran Electrical & Power has signed a contract with AVIC XAC Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd (XCAC) on the main and auxiliary electrical generation system of the next MA700, a civil regional turboprop aircraft.
The company will provide a mature and reliable variable generation system, that ensures lower cost of maintenance and higher reliability by using an optimised shared oil system, and advanced electromechanical design, which results from Safran Electrical & Power's long history in aerospace power generation systems.
"Since we started our journey with XCAC on the MA60 program, our first collaboration, we have become one of their key partners on the generation systems. This contract is strengthening Safran's position in China and confirms that the Group is today a major partner in the Chinese civil aviation market," says Herve Blanc, Vice President and General Manager of the Power division of Safran Electrical & Power.

Ltd stated "The contract signing is a successful milestone of MA700 electrical generation system development. 2019 will be a critical and busy year for MA700 program regarding both products delivery and testing to ensure a first flight scheduled in 2020. Based on our long-term relationship with Safran, we are confident to support on-time the roll-out and jointly make the MA700 a success."
