Gardner Aerospace has been appointed by Airbus on a collaborative venture to develop a key item for the A330neo, a new member of the Airbus widebody family and state of the art airliner. Gardner's main focus will be the industrial development of important items and sub-assemblies for the A330neo engine pylon, the chief component which holds the engine to the wing. The first phase of the program will see Gardner working on eight development aircraft at its site in Mazeres with the first sections of the pylon currently on track for delivery in Q3 this year.
Christophe Salles, key account director in France, says: "Being selected to support Airbus on this programme is genuine recognition of our expertise and our involvement in the successful development of a similar Pylon used for the Airbus A350 XWB. We are all thrilled to be supporting Airbus in this new venture and are using this opportunity to acquire new resources and develop the team's expertise. We look forward to supporting Airbus in the serial production phase of the A330neo."
