Friday, 21 May 2010

Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse SAS, Toulouse (France), has been selected by Commercial Aircraft Company of China (COMAC), based in Shanghai (China), to develop and supply the integrated air management system for the new single aisle Chinese aircraft, the C919.

The system includes the bleed air system, the air conditioning system, the air distribution system, the cabin pressure control system, the wing anti-ice system and the avionics ventilation system.

Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse SAS will supply an air management system with state-of-the-art technology. The focus is to develop a very high level of integration of all functions. There will be only two centralized controllers which manage all air-related functionalities, for example.

The first flight of the C919 is planned in 2014, the entry into service is scheduled in 2016 with the 168-seat version.

The C919 will be the largest civil aircraft produced in China so far.

Liebherr-Aerospace is already participating in the Chinese regional jet programme ARJ21: The air management system has been developed in Toulouse, the landing gear system at the facility in Lindenberg, Germany.

Liebherr cooperates in the C919-programme with a Chinese partner

For more than three decades, the Liebherr Group has been active in China and has with its presence a long history, which stands for the quality of exchanges and partnerships.

For the C919, Liebherr-Aerospace set up a cooperation with Nanjing Engineering Institute of Aircraft System (NEIAS) for the development and manufacturing of some of the system's components. Liebherr-Aerospace and NEIAS agreed on a work share based on each partner's best capabilities.

The goal of this cooperation is to deepen the relationship with NEIAS. The Institute had been selected by Liebherr as a key partner, in order to set up a work share model that could be used for future programmes.

Liebherr-Aerospace will support intensively the production and assembly of the C919 in Shanghai with its teams of specialists on site.
