Yufeng Mirai M1 eVTOL successfully made its first flight!
Monday, 30 October 2023

Recently, the first 2-ton eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft) M1 independently developed by Yufeng Future "successfully completed its first flight" in Jinshan, Shanghai, and airworthiness-related work is also progressing in an orderly manner.

The first M1 aircraft that successfully made its maiden flight adopts a composite wing configuration scheme, has 20 rotors, has a maximum load of 500 kilograms, can accommodate 5 people, has a cruising speed of 200 kilometers per hour, and a designed range of 250 kilometers. In the future, it will be mainly used to solve the needs of short-distance air travel within and between cities, shortening the driving distance of 2-3 hours to about 30 minutes.

Previously, Yufeng Future officially released the design plan for the manned eVTOL M1 in September 2022, and the first M1 aircraft officially rolled off the assembly line from the factory at the end of March 2023.

After half a year of various system tests and full-machine-level test optimization, the Yufeng Future team has overcome many technical challenges, and the M1 will officially begin its first round of flight testing in September 2023. It progressed rapidly in more than 30 days and completed multiple major test projects such as full-power ground test, electromagnetic compatibility test, full-power aerial test, aerodynamic servo elasticity test, power system failure mode test, hover test flight, low-speed flight test and so on. Successful first flight.

Dr. Liu Shiyi, founder and CTO of Yufeng Future, said that the process of M1's first flight was more difficult than we expected. eVTOL is a new thing. Domestic new energy industry chain companies still need time to adapt and experience in meeting the needs of eVTOL, but this is also a process that the domestic eVTOL supply chain must go through to mature. Fortunately, our full understanding of the needs was combined with the professionalism and professional technical capabilities of the supplier team. Together, we devoted ourselves to overcoming the difficulties, solved all the stuck points and problems, and finally achieved a smooth first flight. The establishment of a domestic civil aviation supply chain is the sentiment of our aviation people. It is a difficult but correct thing. We will continue to persist and ultimately realize the independent control of China's eVTOL.

In recent times, the eVTOL industry has continued to receive good news, and low-altitude economic development has begun to enter the fast lane. On October 10, four departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, and the Civil Aviation Administration of China jointly issued the "Green Aviation Manufacturing Development Outline (2023-2035)" to promote the high-quality development of the green aviation manufacturing industry and provide guidance for the development of the industry. direction. The outline clearly states that by 2025, electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) will be put into pilot operation; by 2035, new general aviation equipment with the technical characteristics of unmanned, electrified, and intelligent will be commercialized and applied on a large scale. On October 13, the eVTOL industry was excited by the news that EHang Intelligent obtained the world's first eVTOL model certificate.

With the support of policy dividends, Yufeng will work hard with all eVTOL practitioners in the future to make eVTOL, a new species, from a dream to a reality, and realize the vision of "air travel that everyone can enjoy" as soon as possible.
