Porvair Filtration Group (www.porvairfiltration.com) has been selected by a major Aerospace component supplier to supply a filter kit and Differential Pressure Indicator for the new generation Boeing 787 aircraft. The filter kit ensures reliable operation of the cargo door actuation system and the indicator provides a signal to indicate when the filter cartridge needs to be replaced.
Following an extensive programme of testing different supplier's filters on the Boeing 787 - the Porvair Filtration Group (PFG) components were selected as they uniquely combined light weight with a design able to meet and exceed the tough performance and reliability criteria required in this arduous operating environment.
The cargo door actuation system operates using Skydrol LD4 at 3600 psi. The disposable filter cartridge is rated at 15 micron absolute and uses a proprietary PFG high dirt capacity filter media designed to maximise operating life. The development and qualification programme for the new filter kit and differential pressure indicator was completed on time and parts are now being supplied for production Boeing 787 aircraft.
Porvair Filtration Group designs and manufactures specialist filtration components and assemblies to meet demands of the aerospace and defence industry for contamination control in hydraulic, fuel, lubrication and air systems. Our filters protect vital sub-systems such as flight controls, fuel management and fuel inerting systems, thrust reversers, braking and steering, power generation and air intakes in aircraft, helicopters, military vehicles, missiles and spacecraft.
