thyssenkrupp Aerospace and SKF have signed a two-year contract extension to their existing partnership for the supply of steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum and copper to SKF’s facility in Lons le Saunier, France. thyssenkrupp Aerospace, part of thyssenkrupp Materials Services, one of the world’s leading mill-independent materials distribution and service providers, is also providing a full range of services designed to improve supply chain resilience and transparency to support SKF’s expansion plans.

These services, which were developed tailormade to the customer’s needs and in close collaboration with a team from SKF, include logistics and sourcing services, such as quality inspection, and delivery management of finished materials. This comprehensive range of services is coordinated in real time via a digital control tower that was developed by thyssenkrupp Aerospace.

Emmanuel Soubigou, CEO of thyssenkrupp Aerospace France, says: “It is always very satisfying when a customer extends an existing contract because it shows that we are doing the right thing and helping them with the challenges they face.” He adds: “In the case of SKF, we have worked very hard to develop our relationship with them and continuously look for ways to improve the services we offer.”

In 2023, thyssenkrupp Aerospace delivered a total 187 tons of raw materials to SKF. With 180 tons already delivered to date in 2024, this represents a 33% increase over the same period in 2023 (January-July) and a significant ramp for the company.

Our expansion plans require that we get the materials we need exactly when we need them and thyssenkrupp Aerospace has certainly delivered.” He continues: “Reliability is not something to take for granted, but through collaboration between SKF purchasing and supply chain experts and thyssenkrupp Aerospace we see how they make the extra effort to revise way of working and limit disruption impact of material supply.”

In line with its “Design, Manage, Operate” approach, thyssenkrupp Aerospace co-created a tailored solution through a series of collaborative workshops with a team from SKF. This approach ensures that the solution and the specific services it covers are precisely matched to the needs of the client.
