KAI (Korea Aerospace Industry Co., Ltd.) held a mass-produced choho aircraft delivery event for the small armed helicopter 'Miron' (LAH-1) at its headquarters in Sacheon, Gyeongnam-do on the afternoon of the 26th.
Since the system development began in June 2015, development was completed in November 2022 and production was started, and the first mass production Unit 1 was successfully delivered to the army, and electrification will be carried out by 2031 starting with this delivery.
At this event, officials from related organizations such as the Army, the Radiation Administration, the Kipoonwon, and the Army, which will be delivered to Miron for the first time, attended the event and had time to look back on the process from Miron system development to mass production.
KAI President Kang Gu-young said, "The successful development and electrification of Miron is a symbol of the continuous efforts and passion of the industry, including the government, the sought, and the KAI," and "We will successfully complete the supply and operational support of the aircraft with thorough quality control until the completion of power, and contribute to the strengthening of our military's advanced aviation power through continuous technological innovation." I said.
LAH-1, named 'Miron' during the KADEX period last October, was developed to replace the army's aging 500MD and AH-1S Cobra. It has a powerful attack power by equipping the air-to-gresile missile 'Cheon Sword', machine guns and a 2.75′′ rocket.
As a device for easy control, a 4-axis automatic flight control device (AFCS) can be applied to automatically control the aircraft with airflow or firing rebound and fixed fire, and Miron is the only joint tactics data link system that can share real-time battlefield situations in its class.
Cho Hyun-ki, head of the Radiation Administration's Basic Power Business Division, said in a congratulatory speech, "Miron is the second helicopter developed with domestic technology after Surion, and will play a big role in strengthening the army's power in the future," and added, "It is expected that Miron's flight will carry out numerous missions for national defense and the safety of the people with the most advanced equipment."
Meanwhile, KAI plans to consolidate the Miron mass production system by starting with the delivery of this mass production Unit 1, and develop various derivative helicopters such as special operation attack helicopters and command control helicopters based on the LAH platform to actively enter overseas markets.
At the Dubai Air Show held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last year, he showed high-distness special operations with Surion and Miron, attracting the attention of officials in the world's aviation defense industry.
KAI plans to secure the excellence and reliability of the aircraft based on Miron's successful delivery and operation support and continue the K-Bansan export enthusiasm with Surion, which is attracting attention in overseas markets.
