Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation has been selected by C&D Zodiac to supply the Interior Lighting System for the Bombardier* CSeries* aircraft. C&D Zodiac is the cabin interior supplier for the CSeries aircraft. Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The Interior Lighting System, which will be supplied by Page Aerospace, a Hamilton Sundstrand company, includes the cabin interior illumination and passenger signs, the emergency lights, exit signs and associated emergency power supplies, as well as the cargo bay and door lighting. LED devices are used throughout the cabin.
The main cabin lighting has a full-color mood lighting option. These lights are installed in the Bombardier CSeries cabin mock-up, on display at the Bombardier Aerospace static display at D128.
As previously announced, Hamilton Sundstrand will also supply the CSeries aircraft's electrical power system and integrated fire protection system, and through Pratt & Whitney, will provide the control system and accessories for the aircraft's Pratt & Whitney PurePower® engines.
"We are proud to be chosen to supply broad content and numerous advanced technologies to support Bombardier Aerospace's operational objectives for the CSeries family of aircraft," said Hamilton Sundstrand president Alain M. Bellemare.
The electrical power system, which performs aircraft power generation, power distribution and load management, is proceeding through the detail design phase and initial hardware has been delivered to Bombardier's Complete Integrated Aircraft System Test Area, or CIASTA, to support system testing for power-on and first flight.
The fire protection system, which integrates advanced technology smoke and fire detectors, environmentally friendly fire extinguishers and integrated control electronics, has recently completed the critical design review program phase.
The engine control system contains 58 components and fulfills requirements of the electronic hardware and software, ignition, sensing, fuel, pneumatic and thermal management systems, including the electronic, fuel, pneumatic and thermal management systems for the PurePower ® PW1500G engine. Hamilton Sundstrand is delivering hardware and software to support development engine ground testing in preparation for engine flight testing.
On April 11, 2011 Bombardier Aerospace announced Hamilton Sundstrand as one of four recipients of Bombardier's 2010 Corporate Social Responsibility Awards and the Hamilton Sundstrand Puerto Rico facility as one of eight recipients of the new Bombardier Achieving Supplier Excellence, or BASE, recognition award.
