Deutsche Aircraft has commenced the construction of the first D328eco test aircraft, TAC 1, by starting work on the extension of the D328 fuselage. A specifically developed precision tool was used to cut the fuselage.
The D328eco programme has made substantial progress in establishing a strong supply chain network. With contracts secured for over 95% of its suppliers, the programme is poised for success.
"We are thrilled to announce the fuselage cut for the D328eco programme," says Nico Neumann, COO at Deutsche Aircraft. "This milestone is a testament to the hard work and ingenuity of our team, which has successfully started the TAC 1 development process. It showcases our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions and enabling early flight testing for the D328eco”.
The D328eco programme aims to revolutionise regional aviation with an environmentally friendly and cost-effective aircraft. With its advanced technologies and sustainable design, the D328eco offers operators enhanced fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, contributing to a greener future for the aviation industry. The aircraft will seat 40 passengers.
Meanwhile, Deutsche has granted Triumph Group's Thermal Systems Division, located in Forest, Ohio, a long-term-program contract to design, manufacture and support the precooler system for the D328eco. The D328eco is equipped with Pratt and Whitney PS127XT-S engines capable of operating on 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) including Power-to-Liquids (PtL) fuel with zero aromatics. The aircraft will also have advanced avionics enabling single-pilot operations, while consuming 40% less fuel and emitting 40% less carbon.
“Triumph is very pleased to be a part of this work with Deutsche Aircraft,” says Justin Wolfanger, President of Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls. “The D328eco represents a step forward with sustainable fuel and a greener future in aerospace. We are increasingly engaged with the development of new thermal systems and solutions to support the sustainable future of flight. Alongside Deutsche Aircraft and many of our other partners, the future is looking greener.”
“We are delighted to announce this agreement with Triumph for the installation of the advanced precooler system on the D328eco,” adds Neumann. “This partnership marks a significant step forward in enhancing the capabilities of our aircraft.”
